Description

Gulden Draak, the golden dragon, is one of the best-known strong dark ales of Flanders, brewed by Van Steenberge. Its glass is shaped like a dragon’s egg resting on a heavy foot: a rounded bowl that tapers to a narrower opening.

It is not a classic snifter in silhouette, but it does the same job. The round bowl gives a strong, sweet, dark beer room to open up, and the tapered mouth concentrates its caramel, dark fruit and alcohol warmth before it reaches you. The heavy base makes it pleasantly stable on a cafe table.

33cl, sold as a single glass. Made for Gulden Draak and Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple, and a good match for any big, dark Belgian ale.
