Description
Paix Dieu is a strong blond Belgian tripel with a story to match: the brewery famously brews it only on nights of the full moon, a nod to the monks of the old Paix-Dieu abbey who are said to have timed their work by the lunar calendar. Its glass is just as unusual.
Where most Belgian glasses are chunky chalices, this one is a large, thin balloon on a tall, slender stem, much closer to a cognac or wine glass. The big bowl gives a rich, honeyed tripel plenty of surface to release its aroma, and the narrowing rim holds it there. Hold it by the stem and let the beer warm slowly.
25cl, sold as a single glass. It is the most expensive glass in the cabinet, and not one for the dishwasher: a glass for special bottles and slow evenings.
